Rules

The students are expected to start behaving in a professional and responsible manner right from the start. This entails dressing in an appropriate manner for interacting with other students, staff and quite soon, patients. As physiotherapy is a practical discipline, the students will be expected to disrobe for some of their practical classes. They will be expected to wear suitable navy trousers and a prescribed white shirt for their clinical practice.

Another aspect of professionalism is becoming a life-long learner and the students are expected to attend every lecture and practical session, tutorial and each day of clinical placement.

The course requires that students interact with patients with different health conditions from early on in your training. Students are therefore required to be immunized for certain health conditions. it is essential that students have mal-practice insurance, just in case anything goes wrong in the clinic. Students therefore need to both register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, and the South African Society of by the end of the 1st year of the programme. This membership of the SASP provides the student with personal malpractice insurance.
